Features

The main features and capabilities of Bass Model Forecaster are:

  • open source - this means you can see the Visual Basic functions for the Bass model and other code. You could use the Bass Model functions in other spreadsheets.
  • calculates a Bass Model forecast from the answers to the following 3 questions:
  • the size of the potential market M; that is, the ultimate number of adopters (buyers) of the product?
  • the percentage of the potential market that will purchase the first year?
  • the number of years after which virtually all (95% or other specified percentage) of potential adopters will have adopted?
  • a starting year and a name for the product to be used in the generated graphs and tables may also be specified.
  • calculates a Bass Model forecast after user chooses parameters p and q form analogous products in drop-down lists (top drop down first) -- offers parameters p and q for more than 100 product categories.
  • calculates a Bass Model forecast from user-specified M, p and q.
  • Parameters can be fine tuned dynamically with sliders -- after selecting a set of p's and q's, each parameter can be fine tuned up or down by adjusting the sliders. The effect is immediately visible in the tables and charts.
  • The ability to include your own sets of Bass Model parameters -- just add them as an additional table in the sheet of parameters. The new parameters will then appear on the drop down lists.
  • Bass Model mathematical derivation on a spreadsheet tab.
